Is Coconut Oil good for your heart?

I have heard that coconut oil used in cooking is the ';best thing since sliced bread'; as far as heatlh, but I could have sworn it was supposed to be bad for your heart. When doing research on oils good/bad for your heart, sometimes its confusing. Anyone know anything on Coconut oil and where you got the info?Is Coconut Oil good for your heart?
Researchers from the Heart Research Institute in Australia studied the body response from eating meals containing good fats versus bad fats. Participants were fed with meals prepared with either coconut oil (high in ';bad'; saturated fats) or safflower oil (high in ';good'; polyunsaturated fats). After only 3 hours, researchers found the participants fed with the coconut meal high in saturated fat had a significantly reduced blood flow due to arteries' reduced ability to expand. After 6 hours, researchers found that the good high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol's anti-inflammatory properties had decreased after the saturated coconut meal, but improved after the polyunsaturated safflower meal. The results of this study were published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in August 2006.Is Coconut Oil good for your heart?
I think you heard something wrong it is not good for your heart
HYDROGENATED coconut oil is bad for you. This particular kind of coconut oil is obviosly hydrogenated, which means that in the process of hydrogenating it, many things in the origional coconut oil change. One of the changes is that more trans fatty acids (TFA) are put into it. These TFAs are very bad for you and can cause a rise in blood cholesterol, which is BAD for the HEART. NATURAL coconut oil, however, is NOT harmful for your heart.

I LOVE coconut anything, so when i heart this news i felt really good. I could eat coconut and not feel so bad about it!
my friend who is a researcher on coconuts, she informed us that its good for your heart. because they conducted study from Bicol PRovince, (Southern Luzon, Phlippines) who most of their diets include coconut oil. and they found out that the residents has low cases of heart diseases.
Apparently it's better for your heart than other saturated fats, because it's a long chain saturated fatty acid. If you are going to eat saturated fats, I guess I would eat coconut oil, because it's good for your hair and nails, but otherwise I would stick with mono and polyunsaturated fats.
