Would you get a very similiar finished product in the end? The recipe I was thinking about doing the substi. for is a banana muffin recipe. A lot of people who made these and left comments about them, substituted canola oil for the melted butter in the recipe (1/3 cup) . With this very minute amount, do you think I could do the substitution? The reason is purely out of my knowing that coconut oil is SO good for you! As far as I can tell it should be fine. I use coconut oil in my baked oatmeal instead of butter and it is soooo good. I don't have extra virgin coconut oil and it doesn't taste like coconuts at all. Extra virgin would have the coconut taste. My coconut oil has a buttery taste to it. Can you substitute coconut oil for butter in baked goods?
When you make pastries, substitute 50% coconut oil for whatever fat is recommended, hopefully butter.

oh yes you could definitely do that. my mum has alot of goanese recipes that call for coconut oil that she sometimes substitutes with butter and they turn out great so for the opposite of substituting butter for coconut oil would be fine. plus it would smell and taste soooo much better and richer!
It should be fine since it melts under similar conditions to butter. Not sure if it would have a coconutty taste though. You could do half and half to keep the flavor but still get some of the benefits of coconut oil.
you'd be better off using 1/3 cup applesauce instead. Use a 1 : 1 ratio. Whatever amount of oil, use applesauce instead.
This works great in all sweet baked goods. Leaves foods really moist.
coconut oil tastes like coconuts.
use canola which is also one of the better oils.
