It honestly depends on the age of the child. a younger child might not properly digest it, or make it so the baby have serious health issues.

Increase the water or fluid amount in your babies dietary intake. Increase the dietary fiber intake amount which can be found in fruits such as fig, apricots and peaches. If your baby is an infant or cannot take solid foods than you should give juices of fiber rich fruits.

Massage can also be very helpful in relieving constipation. In order to do massage you should start at the belly button and massage outwards in clockwise direction but you should only continue this massage if your babies enjoy the massage or feels comfortable with it. In addition to massage you can also try some exercises that can help relieving constipation. Hold your baby's legs and turn them gently in a quick cycling motion by doing this you are putting gentle pressure on the intestines of your baby helping the move of the stool.

Also, giving you baby a warm bath can help. Generally, constipation with young ones is no issues, but leaving it untreated can cause issues.
Call your doctor's office in the am and ask how much is reasonable. Coconut oil is used in baby formula, so obviously, they think it's safe. However, the safe amount probably depends on the baby's age and size.
i have never heard of that, even though it is a 'natural remedy' i would ask my doc beforehand to make sure there aren't any worries associated with it...
I haven't used coconut oil; but prunes %26amp; a warm bath worked for my baby.
