Where can one purchase an inexpensive, but high quality coconut oil?Wpuld pure coconut oil be a good moisturizer for my face? What about for dry, cracked heels?
For dry cracked skin, I have seen in the stores a product called, ';Bag Balm'; which is a moisturizer that was developed by dairy farmers who apply it to cow utters in cold weather. It is found at Walmart and Kmarts.Wpuld pure coconut oil be a good moisturizer for my face? What about for dry, cracked heels?
Coconut oil is extremely good for your hair as it makes your hairs thicker, stronger, and makes it grow faster. It is also good for your scalp.
You should massage coconut oil in your scalp no on your hair as the hair improves from hair growth. its best to leave it on for two days, so try and put it on friday and leave it on, on saturday and sunday and wash off.
I use it all the time. and if you want good quality coconut oil, try and get an organic one from wholefoods, an organic store or health store.
For a moisturiser for your face, i use olive oil. That is the best as all the nutrients in the oil is especially good for the skin. Best to massage in after washing your face. I use before bed but you can use any time.
Your going to think I am Absolutely nuts- I mix any kind of hydrating lotion (For Xtra dry skin- I buy from Avon) for my feet/with a jar of Vaseline~I put it in a whatever jar -Back into the Vaseline container and that is what I put on my feet at night -or during the day when I where my tennis shoes. (with socks) of course this is messy -However it is the only thing that has worked for my cracked heals and I also found out that the Vaseline is perfect for your face (around the eyes) ~~Tyra Banks said so (It must be true)~ A little goes a long way. Once the messy part of mixing (In a bowl with a blender) it is over with it really isn't that bad of a mess. Use whatever you have left on your hands for knees-elbows-hands-face. Do this in the morning after your shower while you are getting dressed -It becomes a habbit-And you'll find out you can't live without it~ It works this well!! Of course this is an 'Ol Lady routine-But who cares if it is working-Right? Also for your feet I use to soak Arm-n'Hammer foot soak-With a scrubbing stone for your feet-I forget what it is called--Then do the lotion treatment -Leave on all night with socks and you'll have perfect feet in the morning. Good-Luck!!
If you are going to use coconut oil on your face a very small amount is all you need. I use coconut oil on my body when I need to. Emu oil has worked best for my face(only a small amount of that is need too). I get very dry and cracked(painful) heels(I do not take care of my feet often). I have found that raw shea butter works best for me. All products will have better results if you do not use any products filled with chemicals. The best kind of coconut oil is organic extra virgin. It does cost a lot, that would be the downside. For cooking I just get the stuff at walmart, but for my body I go and get something that is better quality.
Coconut oil is great for many things... it's a solid so I melt it in a sink full of warm water after a bath and use it as an all over body moisturizer THEN whatever residue is left on my hands I rub onto my face... otherwise it'd probably make me break out. You could use it on your feet too if you apply generously and then put socks on, but there are probably better natural (if that's what you're going for) solutions for that. Coconut oil is great for hair, lips, make up remover, aftershave and of course cooking and baking. You can order it online in bulk for a good deal if you intend to use it often, or just buy a smaller jar. I just get mine at the grocery store though, it's Spectrum brand (organic) refined and about $8 for a large peanut butter jar sized container. It's in the organic/natural food section at this particular store, but may also be with the regular cooking oils. Mine is refined even though I know that unrefined is even better, but this has been working for me so I'm pleased.
Edit: I was curious after replying to your question, and apparently unrefined coconut oil is really good for your face because of it's antimicrobial properties, it actually kills the bacteria that cause blemishes instead of clogging pores. I tried using more than I have been and haven't broken out yet and my skin is very soft.
I wouldn't use it on your face. It could cause you to break out. But it would be great for your feet. Clean your feet first with hot water and then towel them dry. Rub coconut oil on them and put socks on. They should feel softer in the morning. I wouldn't do this every day or for an extended period of time. No matter how good a product is, your body will get used to it and it won't work as well.
Coconut oil is mostly for skin tone, not really moisture, but you can try it. For your heels, go buy a pumas stone. they work great.
Great for the heels, leave it off your face. Too oily, might clog pores.
Why not just try cold cream for your face? Maybe cocoa butter for cracked heals?
